William E Oakley passed away in January, 2026 in in Wilmington, North Carolina. He wrote three books concerning the genealogy of Duncan King, Lydia Fosque, Alexander King, James King Solomon King, Moses King, Mary R. King Rothwell, and Elizabeth King Campbell.
In his research about their genealogy, he has found a great deal of information about their involvement with British soldier's US land grants, 1740-1770 British privateers, 1740-1770's Pirate treasures, General James Wolfe's death painting the Battle of Quebec 1759, the Southeastern North Carolina Methodist Church, the Shiloh Methodist Church in Bolton, NC and British sympathizers During US Revolutionary War.
